John Harold Dickinson was born on 10th May 1869 at Chesterfield Street, St. George, Hanover Square, London. He was the youngest son of William Howship Dickinson, M.D. 37yrs, a distinguished physician and lecturer at the Royal College of Physicians, and Laura, 33yrs, nee Wilson.

John had 5 older siblings, Laura b.1862, William b.1863, Violet b.1865, Constance b.1867, Mary Florence b.1867.

In 1888 John entered Caius College, Cambridge, studying for Holy Orders; he was ordained Deacon 1895 Truro, and Priest 1896  Penzance. The first 2 years of his ministry were spent in Scarborough but as John's father had retired to Tintagel, Cornwall, he spent the rest of his church career in that county, moving to 77, George V Avenue, Worthing, Sussex, after his retirement.

In 1940, aged 71yrs, John married Isabel Katharine Blanche Latimer, 50yrs, a schoolteacher, at Chanctonbury, Sussex. They lived at George V Avenue.

John died at 2, Shakespeare Road, on 13th May 1942, aged 73yrs. Probate was granted to his wife, effects, £15954 0s 7d. Value 2022 - £801K.
