Life story

Life story

Jane was born in Chippenham, Wiltshire, the daughter of Charles and Jemima. She was baptised at St Andrew, Chippenham on 9 Aug 1846. Her father was a plasterer and tiler. By 1861, the family were living in Queen's Square where the White family were one of the neighbours. Jane married Henry John White at St Nicholas, Brighton on 23 Oct 1870. The banns were read in her home town. In the early 1870's, the couple moved north to Chilvers Coton, Warwickshire where their daughter Annie was born in 1875. A second daughter Alice was born there ten years later. After moving back south and settling in Worthing, Henry died in 1904. Jane stayed on in the house in Manor Road with her daughters. Alice was a music teacher. Jane died on 13 Dec 1930 and was buried at Heene under the Burial Law Amendment Act 1888. She was a non-conformist parishioner.
