James moved to Clapham with his children and worked as a clerk for a firm making machinery. William worked for a bank eventually becoming a manager. By 1891, the family were living in Tonbridge, Kent and employing a servant. After James retired, they moved firstly to Dorking and then to Worthing. James married Fanny Silvester on 14th June 1906 at West Tarring church near Worthing. The couple settled at “Glen Lyn” in Harrow Road, Worthing. James died on 11th January 1913.
