Ivone James Kirk was born in Abingdon, Berkshire in 1874. No records have yet been found relating to the birth and early life of anyone with this name. It's possible that Ivone James was a member of the Kirkpatrick family who shortened his surname to Kirk at some point.
On 26th December 1904 Ivone married Ethel Annie Harpham, 23yrs, at Spalding, Lincolnshire. The banns were also called at Christ Church, North Brixton, Lambeth, Ivone's parish church.
In 1911 the couple were living at 4, Cowley Road, Ilford, Essex, they had 2 children, Edna Maud, 5yrs, and Ivone Ross, 4yrs. Ivone James gave his occupation as Valuer Grocery Trade. The electoral roll 1915 placed him at 38, Redcliffe Gardens, Ilford, and in 1918 he was listed in Kelly's Directory at Richmond Road, Worthing.
Ivone was in partnership with Everard Orbell, their company, Orbell and Kirk, Accountants and Auditors, had offices in Portsmouth, London and North Street, Brighton. In 1930 Ivone had his own company, I.J.Kirk and Co. at Pavilion Buildings, Brighton.
In 1921 Ivone and his family were still living in Worthing.
Ivone died, at 71, Richmond Road, Worthing, aged 56yrs, on 1st October 1930, he was buried at Heene Cemetery on 4th October. Probate was granted to Ethel Annie Kirk, widow, effects £4151 1s. Value 2022 - £320,665.
