Henry Cornelius Clark was born in Peckham, Camberwell, London, on 10th October 1879, he was the son of William Henry Clark, 22yrs, a carpet cutter, and Isabella, 21yrs, nee Self. Henry was the first born of 8 children, he had 2 brothers and 5 sisters.

Henry lived in Peckham with his family until he was 21yrs of age, then when he married Henrietta Boden, 24yrs, at St. Mary Magdelene Church, Peckham, on 25th December 1901, they continued to live in Peckham, where they raised 2 daughters, Sarah Isabella, b.1904, and Dorothy, b.1906.

Henry had started his working life as a warehouseman, but he later changed to a clerical career, firstly as a clerk for a tea dealer, then to other administrative positions.

In 1934, Henrietta died, aged 57yrs, and in 1935, Henry married again, on 28th September, to Mary Elizabeth Dewey, widow, at St. Stephens, Norbury. Shortly afterwards Henry, Mary and his eldest daughter, Sarah, moved to Thornton Heath, Surrey.

In 1939, Henry and family were living at 85, Beverstone Road, Thornton Heath, his occupation was as a clerk for National Health Insurance, his daughter, Sarah, was employed as an ironmonger's shop assistant.

In 1940, whilst visiting Worthing, Henry died, on 18th March, at 209, Tarring Road, aged 60yrs.

Administration was granted to Mary Elizabeth Clark, widow, effects, £742 1s 9d. Value 2024 £52,000.
