Story

Henry was born in Upper Beeding, Sussex, the son of William and Susannah (Ann). He was baptised in the village on 2nd April 1809. On 2nd August 1829, Henry married Ann Poland at Old Shoreham church. Their daughters Elizabeth and Mary Ann were born in Upper Beeding but by 1841, the family had moved to Heene village where Henry worked in a local nursery. Henry and Ann had ten children before 1851, Elizabeth, Mary Ann, Frances, Stephen, Albert, Henry, Edward, William, Alfred and Eliza. By 1871, the family were living in Brunswick Road sharing a cottage with another family. Ann died in December 1873 and was buried at Heene. Henry died two years later in 1875. He was buried at Heene on 21st December. No probate.
