Henrietta was born in 1841 in Belgaum in India, the daughter of Nicholas Fenwick Johnson and his wife Bridget Mary. She was baptised at Belgaum on 18th February 1842. Her Father was a Major General in the 26th Madras Native Infantry, and they were living at Secunderbad India. In 1857 there was an Indian rebellion against the rule of the British East India Company, which functioned as a sovereign power on behalf of the British Crown. This may explain why Bridget and her children came back to England and their Father stayed in India. Henrietta spent her childhood at Edwardes Square, Kensington. In 1861 Bridget and her children were living at Oak Cottage, Dorman's Land, Lingfield. Their Father also died in this year in Salem India of Liver Disease.
Bridget died on 18th August 1866 at 26 Pembroke Road, Kensington.
By 1871 Mary the oldest sibling is running the household and she is living with her other siblings at 2 Devonshire Villas, Main Road, Bexley Heath. The family are living on a pension from the Madras Military Fund.
In 1881 Henrietta is living at 3 Blenheim Terrace, Leeds and working as a companion to Eleanor Humble. Eleanor died in 1882, and Henrietta would have lost her job. There is no record of Henrietta until 1901, although she did spend a lot of her working years as a companion to several elderly ladies.
In 1901 Henrietta is back living with her Sister Mary and Alice at Aldershot Road, Church Crookham, Hants.
In 1906 Henrietta and Alice and her Brother William have moved to Worthing
In 1911 The siblings are living at Norham Heene Road Worthing
In 1925 Henrietta is living at 64 Heene Road Worthing
