Life story

Life story

Harriett's parents were Jonathan and Mary Ann Nevill. She was one of at least eight children. In March 1863, Harriett married Watts Wilkinson Goudge a banker's clerk and a widower whose first wife had died in 1860. The marriage took place at St Mary the Virgin church, Tilty near Dunmow, Essex. The couple had three children. Watts does not appear on any census records with the family until 1901 census when he was 82. He does not appear anywhere else. He died in 1907 and is buried at Heene. Harriett spent most of her life in London before moving to Worthing. Her last address was "Elmstead" in Cowper Road. She died on 30th November 1910. Probate was granted on 6th January 1911 to Henry Watts Goudge, Edith Nevill Goudge (wife of Reginald James Bacon) and Charlotte Wilkinson Goudge. Effects £3038 17s 6d.
