Life story

Gertrude Bessie Pearce was born in July 1890 in Worthing, Sussex. Her father, Edward Searby was a butler, living at Milton Street, Worthing and her mother, Caroline Amelia Price, was a seamstress. She had two brothers and one sister. She died aged 1 year and was buried in Heene Cemetery, Sussex. Gertrude's brother, Arthur, served as a footman and was a seaman in the navy. Her sister, Violet, was a painter of golf  balls before her marriage, and her other brother, Herbert, died in infancy and was buried at Heene.
