George Jonathan Mills died 7th May 1903 aged 83 years "Whatsoever thy hand findeth to do, do it with thy mightl Eccles 9.10" "Abide with us for it is toward evening and the day is far spent. St.Luke 24.29" Also of Georgiana his wife who entered into rest January 16th 1913 aged 65 "Then they ar glad because they are at rest and so he bringeth them into the house where they would be. Psalm 107.30" In loving memory of James Webb Mills, Priest, born 5th February 1881 died 30th August 1950 "I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills from whence cometh my help. Psalm 121.1" In loving memory of Robert Henry Mills who entered into rest January 10th 1963 aged 77 years "Love was the hallmark of his life"

Life story

Georgiana Riches was born in Enfield, Middlesex, in 1848, to George Riches, 42yrs, and Sarah, 37yrs. Her father owned a Linen Drapery business in Baker Street, Enfield. She had 3 siblings, Mary Ann 13, William 9, and Sarah 5. It was very much a family business and when the children left school, they each became drapery assistants and Georgiana continued to work for the business until she married. In 1875 when she was 27yrs, Georgiana married widower, George Jonathan Mills, 55yrs, a wealthy land and property developer on January 14th at Carlton Coleville, Norfolk. She had a stepson 4 years older than herself. They lived in Worthing, Sussex, at 33, Gratwicke Road, and had six children, Georgiana 1875, William 1876, Jean 1880, James 1881, Robert 1885 and Frank 1887. Georgiana was widowed in 1903, she continued to live at Colville, Gratwicke Road until her death on 16th January 1913, aged 65yrs. Probate was granted to her sons, Rev. William Mills and Robert Henry Mills, effects - £72039 17s 9d. Value 2020 - £8.3m. She left bequests to her daughters and various relations with the residue being shared between her four sons.
