George was born in 1835 in Finsbury, Middlesex to James and Mary Berry. George's Father was a Cabinet and Plate Chest Maker (plates were used to emboss and engrave coffins e.g.) and in 1851 the family lived at President Street Finsbury, Middlesex.
In 1861 the family are living at Ratcliffe Terrace, Finsbury. George is now following in his Father's footsteps and is also a Plate and chest Maker.
George married Emma Anderson on the 2nd December 1865 at St. Mark's, Myddelton square, Islington. The couple had 6 children but only 3 survived
