Life story

Life story

Frederick was born in Bloomsbury, Middlesex, the son of Alexander and Tryphena. He was baptised at St George the Martyr church on 27 July 1851. His father was a practical chemist and the family lived at 36 Devonshire Street. By 1861, they were living in Hackney. In 1878, Frederick married Clara Sophia Chappell in Islington. The couple moved to Enfield. Frederick worked as a warehouseman for Crockers Ltd, a wholesale drapery business and continued to work for them until he retired. By 1907, Frederick and Clara had moved to Reigate in Surrey, living at "Parkfield" Blackboro' Road. Clara died here on 21st March 1907. The following year on 5th December, Frederick married Sarah Annie Aldridge in Croydon. His address was given as Ashdown Park, Coulsdon. The couple lived in Purley until 1920, when they moved to Worthing, living at "Richmond Lodge" 72 Richmond Road. Frederick died on 7th January 1924. Probate administration was granted on 8th May to Sarah Annie Chalmers widow. Effects £17388 4s 2d.
