Life story

Life story

Frank Alan Parker Bennett was born in Govan, Renfrewshire, in 1855. The son of Thomas Bennett, a grocer and wine merchant, his mother was Jane nee Henderson. On 27 August 1878 Frank married Phoebe Ann Hanbury at Great Lever, Lancashire. In 1881 they were living at 404, Springburn Road, Glasgow where Frank was now a spirit merchant employing a man and a boy and his first child, Phoebe Emily, was 5 weeks old. By 1891 Frank was a publican in Glasgow Street, Ardossan, Lanarkshire. He now had three children, all daughters, the youngest of which, Maggie, 7, had been born in Sydney, Australia, in 1884. Frank  changed occupation in  c1892. After some years as assistant in a large auction house he set up on his own account as an auctioneer and valuer in Ardrossan. At some point after 1901 he moved to Worthing and died at Lynton, Rugby Road, on 26 January 1906 at the early age of 50.
