Life story

Life story

Francis was the son of Edward James Hill, Rector of Panfield, Essex and his wife Emily Ann. He was their fifth child. Francis had private means and seems to have had no occupation although the census records show that he had been to South Africa working as a prospector. On 16th February 1904, Francis married Frances Annie Matilda Eland in Uckfield, Sussex. Both were in their 40s and no children were born during the marriage. By 1911, the couple were living in Worthing at "Panfield" in Byron Road. Frances died on 19th February 1915 and was buried at Heene. Francis moved to Gold Martin, Mawnan Smith near Falmouth, Cornwall. He died at Reynolds Cottage in Mawnan Smith on 6th August 1925. Francis was brought back to Worthing and buried beside his wife. Probate was granted on 12th November to Westminster Bank Ltd. Effects £2159 3s 5d.
