Life story

Life story

Fanny was born in Aylesbury, the daughter of Joseph and Sarah. She was baptised as Anna Maria Cheshire at St Mary's Church, Aylesbury on 2nd January 1833. Her father was a draper at the time. By 1835, the family had moved to Stepney where her brother Samuel was born. Fanny was sent to boarding school firstly in Great Marlow and later in Weybridge. She never married and spent much of her life living with her relatives. For a while she took a job as a governess to the children of the rector of Gresham in Norfolk. By 1891, Fanny was living with her brother and his family in Croydon. She then moved to Worthing, boarding in Cambridge Road and then living with her cousin in Warwick Street. She died at her brother Samuel's home "Pendyke" Belsize Road on 21st April 1914. Probate was granted on 11th May to Samuel Harley Cheshire. Effects £1545 7s 4d.
