Born in Manchester, Esther was the daughter of dyer, Timothy Shore and his wife, Frances Mortimer. Frances had a sister, Elizabeth.

Esther married Thomas Hall, a coachman, on 25th December , 1878 in Manchester. They had 4 daughters and a son.

Esther died in 4 Milton Street, Worthing, Sussex in 1931 and was buried in Heene Cemetery.
