Life story

Esther Clare Morley was born on 20th May 1883 in Cambridge, she was the eldest child of Felix Wilson Morley, 28yrs, Organist and Teacher of Music, and Sarah Morley, nee Smith, 31yrs. By 1891 Esther, aged 7yrs, had five younger siblings, Rachel 6, Bernard 5, Vincent 3, Adela 2, and Denys 6 months. Esther continued to live with her parents until her marriage in 1913, aged 30yrs, to Frederick Rowland Barker, widower, aged 60yrs, and lived with him in Worthing, Sussex, until his death in 1922. Esther later moved to Hove, near Brighton, and in 1939 was living at 32, Selborne Road, Hove, with her sisters, Rachel Morley, unmarried, and Adela Walton, widowed. She died on 3rd July 1945, aged 62yrs, at 45, Cromwell Road, Hove.
