Life story

Life story

Ernest was born in Worthing, the son of Isaac and Mary Elizabeth nee Bennett. He was baptised at Broadwater on 10 July 1887. Isaac was a bricklayer's labourer and lived in Market Street with Mary's family. As a young man, Ernest worked as a cellarman for a local brewery. When war was declared, Ernest signed up and served with 4th Battalion, Royal Sussex Regiment.  On leave from the regiment which was stationed at Woolwich, Ernest married Annie Florence Stacey at Heene church on 3rd November 1915. The couple settled at 8 Thorn Road, Worthing and Ernest found work as a house painter. Their son Albert was born in 1921. After Annie's father died in 1922, various members of the Stacey family moved in with the Parsons at 8 Thorn Road. By 1939 William Wallace Stacey was living with them. Ernest died at 8 Thorn Road on 12 Feb 1954. No Probate.

Annie continued to live there until her death in 1973. She was buried at Durrington Cemetery, Worthing.
