Life story

Emma Page was born on the 28th December 1846 to Charles and Emma Dorman.  Charles worked as a Coal Merchant employing 3 men at South Eastern Coal Wharf, Ashford.

In 1851 Emma and her family are living at Station Road, Ashford Kent, and Emma is attending school.  In 1861 the family have moved to the High Street, Ashford, Kent.  Charles is now working as a Carrier and Brickmaker employing 10 men and 4 boys.

Emma married Thomas Page in 1871 in Ashford Kent, they did not have any children. Thomas was Emma's first cousin.  Thomas and Emma lived in Terminus Road, Eastbourne in 1871 where Thomas became a Wine and Spirit Merchant employing 2 men and 2 boys.  By 1881 they had moved to 15 Avenue Road, Eastbourne where Thomas still worked as a Wine Merchant. By 1901 Thomas and Emma have moved to Ashford Kent and are living at 10 Canterbury Road, and Thomas is now living on his own means. By 1911 they had moved to 'The Homestead' Downview Road, Worthing, Sussex.

Emma died on 12th March 1911 in Downview Road, Worthing and left £1905 (£148,918 in 2020) to her Husband, Thomas Page.

Thomas died on the 10th January 1915 and left £5692 18s (£335,783 in 2020) to Thomas Howard Page (Nephew), who was working as a merchant.
