Life story

Life story

Emma Eliza Tywman was born 1880 in Wateringbury in Kent and baptised on 16th May. Emma was the sixth child born to John Twyman from Stourmouth, Berkshire and Emma Maxted of Birchington, Kent. John Henry 1868, Frederick George 1870, (who died the following year aged just 1) Robert Herbert 1872, Harriett Ann 1874, Wilfred Albert 1876 and lastly Emma in 1880. Emma's father worked as a Brewery Labourer and they lived in Tonbridge Road Wateringbury where main Whitbread Breweries were. At the age of 3 Emma's mother died and the following year her brother Wilfred Albert dies aged 7 in 1884. In 1866 the family was split apart when Emma's father died leaving the four children to be divided between the family relatives. The eldest boys John and Robert were living with Maternal grandparents. Harriett Ann was living with the family of a retired Lt Colonel as a cook and Emma Eliza moves to Brighton to live with an Aunt and her family, where she stays until she marries in 1902 to Albert Herbert Hall in Brighton. Emma's brothers all marry while sister Harriett moves to Brighton by 1911 and is working as a parlour maid. Still living in Brighton, Emma and Albert have two daughters in Brighton Dorothy May 1903, and Violet Elsie 1906. By 1910 the family are living at 13 Milton Street in Worthing and have a Son Arthur
