Emily was born in Bermondsey, the daughter of Frederick and Emma. She was baptised at St Mary, Newington on 3 Jul 1842. Her father Frederick was a tanner.
In 1867. Emily married Benjamin White at St Mary Magdalene, Southwark on 18 Feb. She and Benjamin had seven children, two of which followed their father into the leather trade.
After her husband retired, the family moved to Worthing, living at 32 Thorn Road. Emily and her daughters ran this as a boarding house. Her daughter Eliza died in 1929.
Emily died c13 Feb 1931 and was buried at Heene on 16 Feb. Her daughter Emily died in 1945 leaving Lucy to run the boarding house. She died in 1960.
