Life story

Emily Lydia Cook was born in Notting Hill, Middlesex, in 1857, she was the daughter of Edward Tyler Cook, 24yrs, Plumber, and Hannah, 23yrs, nee Gill, she had at least 8 siblings.

On 7th September 1887, aged 31yrs, Emily married George Greenwood, 43yrs, a widower, at St. Paul's, Hammersmith, she gave birth to twin daughters, Emily Lydia and Edith Maud, who were baptised on 29th September 1889 at St. Lukes, Shepherds Bush.

Emily and her family lived together in London for over twenty years, she was widowed in1919 and at some point, moved to Worthing, Sussex, where she died, aged 71yrs, on 10th April 1928.

Her address was Rydal, Reigate Road, probate was granted to her daughter, Emily Greenwood, spinster, effects, £4450 14s 11d. Value 2024 - £350,347.
