Life story

Elsie Eveleen Lee nee Mincher 1886 -1965 Post Office Clerk Born in Nottingham, Elsie was the daughter of William Mincher, a Methodist Minister, and his wife Eliza. She had 3 sisters: Gertrude (1878), Mabel (1883) and her younger sister, Winifred (1889). By 1911 she was living with her family in Hampstead and working as a Post Office Clerk.

On 21st February, 1914, Elsie Eveleen married, Stephen Michael Lee from Kennington who was a bank cashier. Stephen was a Royal Fusilier in the Great War and their daughter Margaret Eveleen was born on 20 May 1919 while he was a serving soldier in Christchurch, Bournemouth.

In September, 1939, Elsie lived at 98 Reigate Road, Epsom and her husband was a bank manager. Margaret was living at home and working in a Pathology Laboratory in Epsom.
