Story

Elizabeth was the daughter of Henry Stephens, a blacksmith and his wife Jane. She was baptised on 31st March 1850 at Jesus Chapel, Enfield, Middlesex. She married William Cracknell Docking, a broker on the London Stock Exchange, on 16th March 1876. The 1911 Census revealed that they had 3 children, all of whom predeceased their mother. Elizabeth’s life had its share of grief. Daughter Ethel born in 1878, died of pulmonary tuberculosis and heart failure. She is also buried at Heene. A second daughter Eva died at 18. The third child could not be traced. Elizabeth’s husband also died young, aged 42 in 1892. Elizabeth died in 1922 aged 72, leaving her estate of £3380 2s 7d to her younger, unmarried sister Harriet Frances Stephens.
