Life story

Life story

Edward was born in Frome, Somerset, the son of George and Sarah Jane. He was baptised at St John's Church, Frome on 31st August 1873. His father was a licensed victualler and a carpenter and by 1871 was running the Anchor- Hope Inn in Trowbridge. Edward, who was known as Rowland or "Rowley" followed his father into the construction business along with his brother George. In 1905, Edward joined the Freemason's Lodge of Concord in Trowbridge. He married Selena Ellen Turner in Trowbridge on 16th November 1908. The couple continued to live in the town and it was only when Edward retired that they moved to Worthing, settling in Ripley Road. Edward died on 31st December 1941. Probate was granted on 5th March 1942 to Lena Ellen Moore widow.  Effects £1693 8s 9d.
