Life story

Life story

Edward was born in Dublin, Ireland, on 23 May 1856. His mother was Harriette Louisa and his father, an Army Major, was John Kenneth Mackenzie. The 1861 Census could not be found and he seems to have already left home by 1871 as he does not appear with his parents. It is known that he lived in America and was a journalist and author. His wife Sallie Butler Muttersbough was an American and they married in Philadelphia in 1888. Their son Kenneth Harry Litton Mackenzie CBE, was born in Wichita, Kansas in 1889, joined the Royal Navy and became a Rear Admiral. In 1889 Edward was the editor of The Mirror in Wichita. By 1901, with his wife and son he had moved to London and lived at 12 Auriol Mansions in Fulham. In 1911 he moved to Marylebone and by 1921 to "Belmaduthy" 2 Cowper Road, Worthing. He died on 12 April 1923 leaving £4219 3s 2d to his widow and son.
