Life story

Life story

Edith was born in Tottenham, Middlesex, the daughter of Edwin and Amelia. She was baptised at All Hallows Church, Tottenham on 9th October 1875. Her father Edwin was a schoolmaster. By 1888, the family were living in Hereford where her father opened a boys boarding school. Edith's mother died this year and it fell to Edith to look after her father. She taught at the school along with her sister Martha. The family moved to Winchmore Hill after Edwin's retirement and then to Worthing in 1918. They lived at "Westbury" in Grand Avenue. Edwin died in 1923 and Edith continued to live at "Westbury" with her sisters until her death. She died on 25th May 1959 at "Jacquaranda Nursing Home" 9 Ripley Road, Worthing. No probate.
