Story
Constance (known as Lilian) was born in Tottenham, daughter of Edwin and Amelia. She was baptised at All Hallows Church, Tottenham on 25th June 1883. Her father was a school master. In 1888, the family moved to Hereford where Edwin opened a boarding school for boys. Amelia died the following year. After Edwin’s retirement, the family moved to Winchmore Hill near Ealing. Constance trained as a nurse and worked in London at the London Hospital in Whitechapel. In 1912, she enrolled as a midwife. Her father died in 1923 and Constance moved to Worthing to live with her sisters at “Westbury” in Grand Avenue. Like them, she worked at “Amatola” Nursing Home in Shakespeare Road. The sisters were still living at “Westbury” in 1960 but moved soon after to Jacquaranda Nursing Home, 9 Ripley Road, Worthing. Constance died here on 25th July 1962. No probate.
