Bucks Herald 19 May, 1812
BRILL. Death of Mrs. Riley. We regret announce the death, at the age of 63, of Mrs. Riley, wife of the Rev. J. Riley, vicar of Brill. Early in the year the deceased lady, having been unwell, went to stay with her brother Ealing, hoping the change would prove beneficial. She subsequently went to Worthing, and while there became worse. About three weeks ago her condition began to cause grave anxiety her relatives, and from that time she gradually sank, passing peacefully away early in the morning of Thursday, May 9. The sad news cast quite & gloom over the parish when it became known on • Thursday evening, and the deepest sympathy is expressed by all for the Vicar and family. The interment took place at Worthing on Saturday afternoon, and simultaneously there was a memorial service in Brill Parish Church. There was a large congregation, and the Rev Brown-Serman, was assisted Rev. J. Skinner, vicar of Oakley. At the service Sunday evening, the Rev. S. Brown-Serman made reference to the sad event, and at the close the Dead March in Saul was played tby he organist, Mr. Brown, who also played Chopin’s “Marche Fumebre" as the congregation were leaving.
