Life story

Life story

Charlotte was born on 11 October 1874 and baptised on 14 February 1875 at Highbury Grove Christ Church, Islington. The maiden name of her mother, Charlotte Silvestre, was Vaughan. Her father, Edward Jury, was a clerk in various businesses including a theatrical agency. The household usually included a general domestic servant. However, the 1901 Census shows no servant but does record two boarders, perhaps indicating reduced circumstances. Charlotte Crighton Jury died on 3 March 1907 of heart failure after suffering from influenza and double pneumonia for 8 days. Her last address was Archfield, Wykeham Road, Worthing, the home of Edwin Docker, a schoolmaster. His wife, Della Louise Docker was with Charlotte at the end. They described her as a 'loving and devoted friend'. She was 32.
