Life story

Life story

Charles was born in Newington, Surrey, the son of Charles George and his wife Amelia Ann. He was baptised at St Mary Magdalene, Southwark on 19 Jun. Charles was sent to a nurse as his mother was ill. She died in April 1871 and was buried at St Giles, Camberwell. In 1875, Charles George married Rose Eugenie Griffiths at Camberwell. His occupation was listed as a school board officer. Charles grew up in the Camberwell area and took a job as a dock clerk. In 1903, he married Elizabeth Ann Shorey on 10 Sep at Camberwell. The couple moved to Worthing, possibly to improve Charles' health as he was consumptive. They lived at 9 Elmwood Terrace in Tarring Road between Ripley Road and The Drive. Charles died on 25 Jun 1906 of Phthisis Exhaustion (Pulmonary Tuberculosis). No probate.
