Life story

Life story

Caroline Harriett Mullins was born in St. Annes, Soho, Middlesex, in 1825, she was the daughter of Henry Mullins, she married Henry Hamper in The Strand, London, in April 1847.

They had 2 children, Laura Caroline, b.1850, and Harry, b.1852.

By 1861 the family had moved to Hampstead, where they lived for about 30yrs, Henry continued in the hosiery and outfitters business, later with their son, Harry. They traded as Hamper and Son, Old Broad Street, London, and in October 1895 went into receivership under the Bankruptcy Act.

Caroline's daughter, Laura, had married a solicitor, Henshall Fereday, in 1880, they had 3 children and appeared to have lived with her parents, joining them when Henry and Caroline retired to Worthing, Sussex, where they lived at Montague Place.

Caroline died, aged 75yrs, she was buried on 29th January 1900 in Heene Cemetery.
