Life story

Life story

Bessie was born in Itchingfield near Horsham, the daughter of John and Caroline Parker. Her father was a carpenter and died in 1879. As a young woman, Bessie came to Worthing to work as a house servant to John Chaplin, a wine merchant. She married George Augustus Frederick Bone, a plumber, at Heene on 6th June 1897. The marriage was celebrated at Itchingfield on 12th June. The couple moved into 2 Heene Cottages in Heene Road, Worthing. They had two children, Margaret and Harold. By 1911, the family was living at 7 Thorn Road. Bessie died on 4th September 1917. No probate.

Worthing Gazette 6th September 1917

On September 4th 1917, at 7 Thorn Road, Bessie dearly loved wife of Frederick Bone passed peacefully away aged 46. So sadly mourned by all.
