Life story

Life story

Arthur Herbert Hall was the son of Henry Street Hall from Ewell Surrey and Jane Collier from Washington, Sussex. Arthur was the 7th of 9 Children born to Henry and Jane, who married in Southampton, Hampshire in 1860 and moved to Shoreham in 1861 living at 4 Queens Place. His father was a Master Boat Maker and employed 1 man. The family then move to Brighton and Arthur started work as a Grocers counterman and continues to work in this occupation. Arthurs father dies aged 63 in 1899 when Arthur is just 21 years old. Three years later Arthur Herbert marries in Brighton Sussex, in 1902 to Emma Eliza Tywman from Wateringbury near Maidstone in Kent. Still living in Brighton, they have two daughters in Brighton Dorothy May 1903, and Violet Elsie 1906. By 1910 the family are living at 13 Milton Street in Worthing and have a Son Arthur Leslie 1910, and Arthur is still working as a Grocers assistant. This completes their children and sadly two of their children die, Daughter Violet Elsie dies aged 7 and Son Arthur Leslie dies aged 2 and both children are laid to rest in Heene Cemetery next to each other.
