Life story

Arthur Samuel Bull was born in Hackney, London, in 1866; he was the son of George Bull, 26yrs, a stationer, and Amelia, 27yrs, nee Rawson, he was 1 of 8 children.

At 15yrs of age, Arthur was employed as an office clerk, ten years later he was a bank cashier and continued in this position for about 15yrs.

Arthur married Emily Georgina Cator, 19yrs, on 24th November 1885 at St. Mark's, Dalston, Middlesex. They had 3 children, Arthur Jeffery b.1887, Louise Ethel b.1892, and Nancy Marjorie b.1909.

Arthur and family moved from Hackney and in 1901 they were living in Chingford, Essex, but by 1911 they had moved to Worthing, Sussex, where Arthur was a boarding house-keeper, at Hogarth House, 78, Marine Parade.

Arthur died on 25th August 1923, aged 58yrs, probate was granted to his son, Arthur Jeffery Bull, bank clerk, effects £2799 13s 9d. Value 2022 - £188,000.
