Life story

Annie Simpson was born in Lincolnshire in 1862. She was the daughter of Samuel Simpson, 29yrs, a boiler maker, and Emma, 31yrs, she was 1 of 6 children.

The family lived in Grantham Street, Lincoln, for nearly 30 years, and Annie remained at home until her widowed mother died in 1893. After this, Annie supported herself working as a laundress, and then, in 1907, aged 45yrs, Annie married Edward Hall, 52yrs, in Newcastle upon Tyne. Edward was a widower with 4 children, he was a butcher by trade and a cattle dealer.

In 1911, Annie lived with Edward and 2 of her stepchildren in Lincoln, but in the following year, Edward died, aged 57yrs.

At some point, Annie moved to Worthing, Sussex, with her stepdaughter, Dorothy Kate, living at Crossways, 22, Mill Road, where she remained until her death on 9th January 1934 at Caer Gwent, Nursing Home, aged 72yrs.

Probate was granted to Reginald Gower Wootton, Retired Stockbroker, effects, £2766 3s 7d.
