Annie was one of three children of Edwin and Ellen who died between 1892 and 1899. Edwin was the brother of George Edwin Greenfield. He was born in Brockenhurst in 1858 and married Ellen May Elliott at Heene on 1st May 1881. The brothers were brickmakers and worked on the Tarring brickfields at the west end of Tarring Road. In 1891 the family lived in Brickyard Cottages, Tarring End Lane. After the death of little Ernest in 1899, the family moved away to Edmonton in Middlesex.
