Life story

Anne Warren was born on 2nd March 1867 at Wheathampstead, Hertfordshire, to Alfred Amos Warren, 27yrs, a Tailor, and Mary Anne nee Dickinson, 28yr. She was baptised on 17th August 1872. Annie, as she was known, was 1 of 6 children, Alfred 1866, Rose 1865, Walter 1872, Minnie 1875, Harry 1877, and Arthur, 1880.

Annie was a domestic servant, she worked locally at the Bell Inn, Wheathampstead, when she was 14yrs old. In 1894 she married Henry Boxall of Sussex, on 21st April, at St. Albans, Hertfordshire.

They set up home in West Tarring, and by 1911 they had had 6 children, Minnie 16, Dorothy 14, Ivy 10, Henry Warren 8, Montague 6 and Gladys 2. Henry worked as a fruit grower before becoming a domestic gardener.

Annie died on 13th March 1929, aged 62yrs.
