Life story

Amy was born in Islington, fifth child of George and Selina Edwards. George Edwards was an Auctioneer and Valuer. The family lived in Islington and Amy was the youngest of four children.

William Goring was born in Caversham in 1868, son of John and Jemima Alice Goring. Father John, born Hanwell, Middlesex, was a Journeyman Butcher. From 1891 to his death in 1916, father John was in the Islington Workhouse.

William and Amy were married in Southgate, London, in 1909. William was Amy's second husband, her first Cecil Henry Brown died in 1908, after two years of marriage.

In 1911, William and Amy were at 1 Caversham Avenue, Palmers Green, George still a Builder. With them were their children Phyllis Amy 3, Violet Annie 1, and William George one month. Also a Nurse and 2 female Servants. William George died that year but they went on to have another 4 children, 2 of them born in Sussex. (Esme Ethel was born in 1917, Audrey May in 1920, both at "Caversham" 91 Marine Parade, Worthing.)

In 1919, living at Marine Parade ( later re-named West Parade). William had an Office in Fox Lane, Wood Green, London.

Amy was at Caversham, Marine Parade when she died. Probate was given to Emily Jane and to Francis John Goring a Colour Merchant and William's brother.
