Alice Louise Suter was the daughter of Henry Goodger, a gardener, and his wife, Mary, nee Lawrence. She was born in April 1872 in Worthing. In the 1881 England Census the family was living in Brunswick Road, Worthing.
They moved around Sussex as shown by the birthplaces of the children. The oldest child, Lucy, was born in Worthing, but Amy was born in Washington and Charles in Horsham. Minnie, Alice and Florence, the three youngest, were born in Worthing.
Alice married Robert James Suter, a farmer and estate land agent, on 25 April 1897 at Christ Church, Brondesbury, Brent, London. By 1901 they were living at Creeksea Farm, in Essex, though Robert was absent on 1901 Census night. However, he was with Alice and their 7 children, the youngest being 6 months old in the 1911 Census.
Alice died on 15 May 1919 at Maldon in Essex. No probate record was found. It is not clear why she is buried at Heene nor why Robert who died in Burnham, Essex, in 1929, is not. In the 1921 Census he is shown living with his 4 youngest children in Creeksea, Essex.
