Life story

Alice Louise Oakeshott was born in Southampton, she was baptised on 10th November 1858. Her parents were William Oakeshott, 42yrs, an artist and photographer, and Fanny Charlotte Fitzroy, 31yrs, nee Berridge. She had 3 siblings, William b.1856, Frank b.1861, and Edith Elizabeth b.1865. In 1864, both her brothers tragically died.

Alice never married, she appeared to have no occupation, she lived with her family in Winchester until the death of her father in 1882, and then moved to Worthing with her widowed mother and sister Edith. They lived at The Priory, Heene, where her mother died in 1917.

Alice later moved to Priory Cottage, Findon, near Worthing, where she died on 1st February 1933, aged 97yrs. Probate was granted to Edith Elizabeth Oakeshott, spinster, effects £5477 11s 11d.  Value 2021 - £402K.
