Life story

Alice Frame's maiden name was Marshall. Her parents were Presbyterians. John Marshall, her father, was an Inland Revenue Tax Surveyor, born in Bodmin, Cornwall, and Alice's mother was Mary Bray nee Kinsman, who was born in Halifax, Nova Scotia. Alice was born in Brixton, London and baptised on 6 July 1855. Aged 16, she was at school at 59, Loughborogh Park, Brixton, one of 17 girls under Harriett Lowman, the principal. In 1901 she married David Frame MA MD, a Scotsman, at Willesden Presbyterian Church. The Rev, D Fyffe officiated and Alice was given away by a relative, Dr Rawes (her father having died in 1881) The couple spent their honeymoon in Bournemouth. At the time of her death on 30 January 1935 she was living at 'Ellastree', Ariadne Road, Worthing and left £1805 17s 11d.
