Life story

Alice Anna Burnand was born on October 4th, 1882, in Chichester, Sussex. Her parents were, Walter Burnand, 26yrs, Tailor's assistant, and Alice, 21yrs, nee Jasper; she was 1 of 7 children, (4 survived), her siblings were, Marian b.1880, Ernest Percy b.1889, and Cyril Lawrence b.1895. The family moved from Chichester to Leamington, Warwickshire, when Alice was a young child, and were living in Worthing, Sussex, in 1911, at Moorlands, Belsize Road.

In 1916, (Sept. E. Preston) Alice, 33yrs, married Leonard Bransden; there is no information about him. They do not appear to have had children, and in 1939, Alice was again living in Belsize Road, described as widow.

Alice lived in Worthing for the rest of her life, she died, aged 82yrs, on 16th May 1965, at the Royal Sussex County Hospital, Brighton, her address was 30, Madeira Avenue, Worthing. Probate was granted to Cyril Lawrence Burnand, draper, effects £417. Value 2021 - £8K.
