Alfred Henry Kingswell was born in 1858 on Portsea Island, he was the son of John Charles Kingswell, a Royal Navy carpenter, and Emma, nee Cleverly. Alfred had 2 siblings, Emma b.1859, and May b.1865. As a young boy, Alfred lived with his uncle's family in Chatham, Kent, his mother died in 1874 and he remained with his aunt and cousins until his marriage in 1881.

Alfred was a banker's clerk when he married Florence Eugenie Summers, b.1856, at Hammersmith, London, on 31st October 1881. They lived in Chiswick for many years before moving to Worthing, Sussex, where Alfred was a resident bank clerk, living at the London County Westminster and Parrs Bank, in Rowlands Road. They had no children.

Florence died, aged 63yrs, on 11th March 1920, and Alfred died on 12th November 1920, aged 62yrs. Probate was granted to William Coldicott, Incorporated Accountant, effects, £2051 4s 6d. Value 2022 - £97,600.
