Life story

Life story

Agnes Clara was born to Frederick and Harriet Passmore, nee Hooper, in January 1863 in Axbridge, Somerset. She was baptised on the 4th January 1863 at Christ Church, 16 Montpelier, Weston-super-Mare. Sadly she loses her older brother, Frederick, aged 3, in October of the same year. In 1866, she gained another brother, Edward, and in 1867 she gained another sister, Ellen Louisa. She now has three brothers and three sisters.

The 1871 census reveals Clara is now 8 years old and a Scholar living at 4 James Buildings' in Weston-super-Mare with her family. Ten years later, Clara is working as a Housemaid and living at Kings Home located in Bristol Road, Weston-super-Mare.

In 1891, Agnes C is back living with her parents in 74 Alfred St and was working as a domestic servant. The next year, Agnes loses her brother William, aged 38, on the 7th September 1892. In 1895, both her mother and father also pass away.

A record from 1898 details Agnes as a private nurse working at the John Divine Institute St.John's Hospital in Blackheath. The 1901 census shows Agnes as a Sick Hospital Nurse living at 18/24 Nelson St in London with other nursing professionals.

The 1911 census shows Agnes working as a Sick Nurse and living at Alveston, Manor Rd, Worthing, aged 40. Four years later her brother Edmund passes away.

10 years later, on the 18th February 1924, Agnes passes away and was buried 3 days later, aged 61.

Effects £109 15. 9d. left to her sister Elizabeth Ann Passmore, spinster.
